About
Jefferson State Gear is a parts supplier. We use Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) to screen out weak or damaged parts before they are sold. But we also provide a parts inspection service to the general public. MPI is a nondestructive testing method used for defect detection. MPI is fast and relatively easy to apply. MPI uses magnetic fields and small magnetic particles (i.e. iron filings) to detect flaws in components. The only requirement, from an inspect-ability standpoint, is that the component being inspected be made of a ferromagnetic material (iron, nickel, cobalt or related alloys) that can be magnetized to a level that will allow the inspection to be effective. We are a valuable service for testing race car frames, heavy equipment, big rigs, and any other industries that would benefit from getting the maximum use out of metal parts by testing them regularly, rather than replacing them early — just in case.
